In January, news came out that a Hot Tub Time Machine sequel was in the works, but now, star Craig Robinson has revealed to Collider that the sequel is official and filming is scheduled to begin in June. The previous report on Hot Tub Time Machine 2 was that Robinson, Rob Corddry, and Clark Duke would be the focus of the new movie with John Cusack not reprising his role, but when Robinson was asked this weekend if Cusack is returning, he responded, “Negotiations are still going, and everybody’s involved.†The original movie’s director Steve Pink is expected to return and to co-write the script with Corddry. Corddry didn’t have a hand in writing the first movie, but his involvement as a writer here means HTTM 2 should be more Childrens Hospital-y, which is good news. With any luck, this could end up being 2014’s best time travel comedy.
