Burton and Taylor Trailer: Same Great Couple, Now With Less Lindsay

Here’s a belated birthday gift Lindsay Lohan would definitely like to return: a promising trailer for the BBC Four movie Burton and Taylor. While Lindsay’s universally panned TV movie Liz & Dick covered Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton’s decades-long love affair, complete with talk-show commentary from the afterlife, the British production will focus on their poorly-received 1983 revival of Noel Coward’s Private Lives. Judging from the trailer, leads Helena Bonham Carter and Dominic West elevate the subject material from campy Lifetime movie schtick. But fear not — the BBC version still features fun retro costumes and someone hurling a bottle of booze at the wall.
