The long-gestating Scarface update appears to finally have a director. According to Deadline, Harry Potter’s David Yates is in “final talks†with Universal to direct the movie, which would make him the first person formally attached to the film. The 1983 Al Pacino–led Scarface is itself a remake of a 1932 movie, but this new Scarface will apparently be more of a reboot — new characters, new setting, new saying hello to little friends, but with the same themes of drug kingpindom, trafficking, and the American Dream.
