Luther star Idris Elba has been branching out into more films recently, with appearances in Prometheus, Thor: The Dark World, and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, and now he’s signed on for yet another feature. According to Variety, he’ll star in the thriller Bastille Day. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Pierre Morel and Baran bo Odar were previously attached to direct, but there’s currently no one at the helm. What we do know is that the film centers on a washed-up CIA agent (Elba) tasked with getting rid of an American boy who’s the prime suspect in an attack on the Paris metro, but turns out to be the key to saving the city. So the film has less to do with the French Revolution than high school history class led you to believe.
