Today, the Writers Guild of America announced its nominees for this year’s Writers Guild Awards, which honor writers in original and adapted screenplay as well as documentary. Sarah Polley’s Stories We Tell is nominated for Documentary Screenplay alongside Jeremy Scahill and David Riker’s Dirty Wars. Terence Winter gets a nod for adapting Jordan Belfort’s memoir, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Tracy Letts for adapting his own play, August: Osage County. Spike Jonze’s original screenplay Her is nominated alongside Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine and David O. Russell’s American Hustle — all three of them also directed the films they penned.
