This past weekend brought a bunch of great news items for Amy Poehler. Not only will Parks and Recreation be renewed for a new season, but according to Deadline, Poehler has also signed a three-year deal with NBC to develop new shows for the network, similar to Tina Fey’s four-year deal with Universal TV. The first project to get a pilot order from the deal is an untitled comedy co-created by Poehler starring Orange Is the New Black’s Natasha Lyonne “as a young woman who works as an aid to old opinionated people.†According to the NBC chairman at TCA this weekend, the show will be in the vein of Golden Girls and will “blow up the cliches about old people.†Poehler currently has multiple producing projects in the works including Comedy Central’s new series Broad City and Swedish show Welcome to Sweden starring and co-produced by her brother Greg, but thankfully all these shows are just a taste of the kinds of projects she’ll bring to NBC for the next few years.
