Old Soul, the NBC comedy pilot Amy Poehler co-created and is producing, is continuing to add big names to its cast. Deadline reports that Oscar winning actress Ellen Burstyn has joined the cast, which also includes Natasha Lyonne, Nick Thune, Fred Willard, Rita Moreno, and Greta Lee.
The pilot, co-created and produced by Poehler, Josh Bycel, and Jonathan Fener, follows cleaned-up party animal Nadia (Lyonne) who has a business caring for the elderly and identifies more with them than with people her age. Burstyn is playing Nadia’s “earthy lesbian†cancer survivor aunt who takes care of her while Nadia takes care of her friends. Standup Nick Thune is playing Nadia’s roommate and friend, Greta Lee is playing her type-A friend Alix, and Fred Willard and Rita Moreno are playing ex-Broadway partners who have been married for 50 years. David Wain is directing the pilot.
