Fred Armisen, Selma Blair, and Judy Greer are teaming up with Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong for a dramatic film. Variety reports that Armstrong will star in Geezer, a movie that follows “the mid-life crisis of a husband and father who, on his 40th birthday, decides to revisit his punk-rock past by throwing an extravagant party in the presidential suite of the Drake Hotel — where he encounters his beautiful ex-girlfriend and former bandmates who have since moved on to bigger and better things.†Other announced cast in Geezer includes Dallas Roberts, Chris Messina, and The Office’s Brian Baumgartner, with writer/director Lee Kirk (The Office, The Giant Mechanical Man) onboard to direct. “The initial seeds for Geezer were planted a couple of years ago, when my son was born within weeks of my fortieth birthday,†said Kirk in a statement. “Billie Joe Armstrong brings an exciting authenticity to the film. He’s a dad, he’s a musician and he’s an incredible talent.†Armstrong will write and perform new songs in the film – no word yet on whether or not we can expect a new single from Ian Rubbish as well.
