Boyhood Takes Best Picture at the BAFTAs

While the DGAs handed out the top prize to Alejandro González Iñárritu for Birdman, the BAFTAs went with the other major contender, Boyhood. The film won Best Picture, along with Best Director for Richard Linklater and Best Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette. There weren’t any other major surprises in other categories: Julianne Moore continued her awards sweep for Still Alice, and Eddie Redmayne did the same with The Theory of Everything. And the movie with the most nominations, The Grand Budapest Hotel, took home a lot of hardware in technical categories and a screenplay win for its writer-director, Wes Anderson.
