Tim Gunn, national treasure/the only reason why any of us still watch Project Runway, spends his Sundays exactly how you might imagine: with a sensible breakfast followed by a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where he’s been a member since 1985. In the New York Times’ Sunday Routine column, he says he likes to visit the Greek and Roman galleries first, and feels some of the paintings “lift [him] off the ground,†like Picasso’s portrait of Gertrude Stein. He stays there until closing time and then makes himself dinner along with a cocktail — specifically a Manhattan. “I’ve been drinking Manhattans since Sept. 11, 2001. I thought, ‘Celebrate the city. Have a Manhattan. Never forget.’†Now just imagine Tim Gunn saying that in his soothing, senatorial voice, and go fix yourself a Manhattan.
