A strange thing is happening in which Jerry Seinfeld, a famously clean comedian, is becoming the face of comedy’s fight against political correctness. It’s not unlike John Denver testifying in front of Congress to protest censorship in music. Last night Seinfeld was on Late Night With Seth Meyers, and the topic came up again, with The New Yorker’s David Remnick discussing people who have problems with his magazine’s covers. The conversation then moved to Caitlyn Jenner and whether she was necessarily off-limits. Maybe all of this will finally get Seinfeld to curse in his act: “What’s the fucking deal†does have a ring to it.
