At long last, Quincy Jones’s hourlong standup special now has a title and premiere date on HBO. The network announced today that the special, titled Burning the Light, is set to air on Thursday, June 2nd at 10:00pm. Here’s more from the press release:
Taped at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles on April 4, the exclusive presentation stars the young stand-up comic who was diagnosed with terminal cancer and told his story in a March 15 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. At the time, Jones expressed his intent to tape a stand-up show that would be his legacy, which led to his HBO deal.
