Not long after learning about Afeni Shakur’s death, Jada Pinkett Smith took to Facebook. The actress, who was close with with Tupac, Afeni’s son, during and after their stint at the Baltimore School for the Arts, explained why the rapper’s mother was a giant in her own right. “She always had a way of making me believe all would be well,†Pinkett Smith wrote Tuesday, citing memories of her and Afeni at Jasmine Guy’s house. “I got to see where Pac got his passion, his ideals for equality and justice but most of all his depth of thinking.â€
