After an intro from Questlove (above), Madonna brought her semi-contentious Prince tribute to the Billboard Music Awards (below). The singer sprang up from a purple chair, in fittingly regal garb, under purple lights, to perform “Nothing Compares 2 U†and lead the audience in a solemn “Purple Rain†sing-along — the latter with the help of Stevie Wonder. “Prince, you know we love you forever,†Wonder said. “Thank you, Prince Rogers Nelson,†Madonna added, “for all that you have given us.â€
