After an intro from Questlove (above), Madonna brought her semi-contentious Prince tribute to the Billboard Music Awards (below). The singer sprang up from a purple chair, in fittingly regal garb, under purple lights, to perform “Nothing Compares 2 U” and lead the audience in a solemn “Purple Rain” sing-along — the latter with the help of Stevie Wonder. “Prince, you know we love you forever,” Wonder said. “Thank you, Prince Rogers Nelson,” Madonna added, “for all that you have given us.”
