Even movie-star best friends have bad days, bro, and Matt Damon and Ben Affleck must feel like the NFL put Tom Brady in a corner all over again. The show they executive-produce, Project Greenlight, won’t be getting more episodes after all. According to Deadline, HBO, after agreeing to another season of the unscripted docuseries, took back its offer on Tuesday. The much-beleaguered program, which got its start with two seasons on the premium-cable channel back in the early aughts, before moving to Bravo for one season, only to then be resurrected a whole decade later on HBO again, gave novice filmmakers a chance to create a low-budget feature with veteran professionals. “When we picked up a new season in 2014, we imagined a one season revival and decided in early 2016 another season did not make sense for us,†HBO said in a statement. Maybe the network was scarred by less-than-stellar reviews of the movies. Or they’re just worried Matt Damon might come off looking like a not-so-chill dude again.
