Loving received major Oscar buzz when it played at Cannes earlier this year, and Tuesday brings the first trailer for Jeff Nichols’s interracial-marriage period piece. Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga star as the real-life couple who challenged anti-miscegenation laws in 1950s Virginia, with Nick Kroll making a surprise appearance as a lawyer who does not wear a funny wig or have a silly accent. Michael Shannon is there too, because Jeff Nichols would rather shrivel up and die than not cast Michael Shannon in a movie. Loving is out November 4.
