The young-adult novel turned film adaptation market is a mixed bag these days (cough, Divergent, cough), so let’s cross our fingers and hope for the best with this one. Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley has signed on to headline Lionsgate’s upcoming adaptation of the popular YA trilogy Chaos Walking, which spurred three novels between 2008 and 2010. The film would align with the first critically acclaimed book in the series, The Knife of Never Letting Go, which is set in a dystopian world without women and tells the story of a boy who’s forced to flee from his small settlement after a shocking discovery. With the townspeople in hot pursuit, he discovers a girl (twist!), and the two end up going on a risky journey together. Oh, and for the real kicker: All living creatures can hear each other’s thoughts in a stream of images, words, and sounds. That really is a dystopian nightmare.
