Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s The Lego Ninjago Movie has found its voice cast. Dave Franco and Justin Theroux will star in the animated feature, and Abbi Jacobson, Kumail Nanjiani, Fred Armisen, Michael Peña, Olivia Munn, Zach Woods, and Jackie Chan will round out the cast. Here’s more on the film from Variety:
In this big-screen Ninjago adventure, the battle for Ninjago City calls to action young Lloyd (Franco), aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret warriors and Lego Master Builders. Led by kung fu master Wu, who’s as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon (Theroux), the Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce, but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their true power.
The Lego Ninjago Movie is slated for a September 22, 2017 release before The Lego Movie Sequel (February 8, 2019) and after The Lego Batman Movie (February 10, 2017). It will make the feature film directorial debut of Charlie Bean, who has worked on Samurai Jack, The Powerpuff Girls, TRON: Uprising, and more.
