IFC’s excellent Documentary Now!, Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, Seth Meyers, and Rhys Thomas’s loving parody of documentary films, is coming back for its second (sorry, 52nd) season on September 14th at 10pm. The season premiere was written by John Mulaney and is called The Bunker, and it’s a parody of War Room, the 1993 documentary about James Carville and George Stephanopoulos working inside Bill Clinton’s first campaign for president. You can see a sneak peek of it above.
Later episodes include a Jiro Dreams of Sushi parody called Juan Likes Rice and Chicken, a Stop Making Sense parody called Final Transmission, a Swimming to Cambodia parody called Parker Gail’s Location Is Everything, and a Salesman parody called Globesmen. And then there’s the two-part episode entitled Mr. Runner Up: My Life as an Oscar Bridesmaid that will parody The Kid Stays in the Picture and feature guest appearances by Anne Hathaway, Mia Farrow, Peter Bogdanovich, and Peter Fonda. Bill Hader doing a Robert Evans impression for two full episodes? This new season can’t start soon enough.
