Jason Sudeikis Shows the Power of Dance in the 2003 Second City Scene ‘Dirty Baghdad’

Welcome to The Second City Archives, in which we post an exclusive clip each week of some of comedy’s biggest superstars performing early in their careers on the legendary Chicago stage. Second City has generously given us a glimpse into their extensive archive of live performances, and over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing some rare and retro comedy never before seen on the web.

It turns out that Jon Rudnitsky isn’t the only SNL known for doing a funny Dirty Dancing routine before he got on the show – Jason Sudeikis was also doing it over ten years ago. In this week’s clip from the 2003 revue The Not Ready for $3.99 Prime Rib Players (featuring Sudeikis alongside Joe Kelly, Seamus McCarthy, Holly Walker, and Kay Cannon), Sudeikis plays a US soldier about to leave Baghdad, but there’s just one more thing he needs to do before he leaves: passionately dance with the local woman he fell in love with (Cannon). Check out some more clips of Sudeikis performing at the same revue here and here.
