It looks like Joel Edgerton is punching his ticket to board the Jennifer Lawrence train: He’s currently in talks to co-star with her in the spy thriller Red Sparrow. The movie will be the fourth collaboration in as many years for J. Law and director Francis Lawrence, who helmed three of the four Hunger Games films. Red Sparrow is based on a book of the same name by Jason Matthews, which follows a young woman in modern-day Russia who is forced to serve as a “sparrow†in the country’s intelligence agency. It’s the sparrow’s job to neutralize a green CIA operative, via seduction if necessary, but things naturally start to fall apart when the two become attracted to one another and she starts carrying on as a double agent. The movie is slated to premiere on November 10, 2017, and it’s being produced by Steve Zaillian, who is best known for writing historical dramas like Schindler’s List, Gangs of New York, and American Gangster. If Edgerton ends up as the American CIA agent, his accent will likely sound great, but we’re really excited to hear J. Law have a go at Russian.
