In a world where every pop act is trying to pull a Beyoncé, TV once seemed like the refuge: a place of certainty and hard premiere dates amid the chaos of other art forms. No longer. After plotting an exhausting ad campaign around the secret theme of season six of American Horror Story, Ryan Murphy has revealed that he has a whole secret season of the show in the works. “I’ve been working with a writer on a season that only he and I know. It’s like a two-year project that we’ll continue to work on the sly and not tell anybody,” Murphy told Entertainment Weekly, accidentally contravening his own goals. “I don’t know when it will [air] but it’s also an experiment,” Murphy continued. “It’s a different way of doing it. It’s one person writing all episodes. I don’t know if it’s going to work but it’s like, well, let’s try that. We might get them done and shoot them on the sly and drop it.” Sounds good, but technically, that season is no longer a secret, nor will it be a surprise. We can’t all be Beyoncé, or even Louis C.K.
