Sting will reopen Paris’s Bataclan concert hall on November 12, one day before the first anniversary of the terror attacks that killed 90 people in the venue and 130 across the city. Sting’s performance will include selections from his new album, 57th & 9th, and will benefit charities Life for Paris and 13 Novembre Fraternite Verite. Guitarists Dominic Miller and Rufus Miller and drummer Vinnie Colauita will join him onstage. After Sting, as previously announced, the Bataclan will go on to feature a set of performances that include Pete Doherty on November 16 and 17, Youssou N’Dour on November 18, Nada Surf on December 2, and Mz on December 3. “In re-opening the Bataclan, we have two important tasks to reconcile. First, to remember and honor those who lost their lives in the attack a year ago, and second to celebrate the life and the music that this historic theatre represents,†Sting said in a statement. “In doing so we hope to respect the memory as well as the life affirming spirit of those who fell. We shall not forget them.â€
