Chin up, Bernie bros: The Brooklyn-born senator from Vermont is still ready for the revolution. Senator Sanders appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to discuss his new book out today, Our Revolution, Trump’s impending presidency, and what the Democratic Party needs to do next. On that last point especially, he echoed his call for a “fundamental reassessment†of the Democratic Party. “The Democrats cannot continue to be run by what I call the liberal elite,†Sanders told Colbert. “The party has got to transform itself to be a party which first of all opens the door, that is a party that feels the pain of working-class people, of the middle class, of low-income people, of young people.†So what can Democrats upset by Trump’s win do now? “What you do now is get involved heavily into the political process,†Sanders said. “When millions of people stand up and fight back, we will not be denied.†Let the revolution begin.
