Well, J. Cole’s scathing new songs are certainly getting into the head of one particular rapper. A mere day after Cole debuted the track “False Prophets†in his surprise documentary Eyez, which took aim at two rappers — presumably Wale and Kanye West — for their negative contributions to the current rap culture, Wale has decidedly fought back with a scathing new song of his own. Titled “Groundhog Day,†the rapper responds to J. Cole’s various disses (which included “and I know he so bitter he can’t see his own blessings†and “you too blind to see you got fans,†among others) in the three-minute track. “I remember me and Cole would open for Hov, everyday a star is born I guess I died in the womb,†Wale raps. “I’m heavily flawed, but far from a false prophet, I’m a motherfucking honorable Folarin, Cassius, Mohammad, McGregor Connor this rap artist.†Kanye, meanwhile, might not be so quick with a response.
