Jim Carrey’s Showtime Series ‘I’m Dying Up Here’ Premieres in June

Not long after giving a series order to Jamie Foxx and Jay Pharoah’s comedy White Famous, Showtime revealed a June premiere date today for the Jim Carrey-produced I’m Dying Up Here, which was ordered to series last year. Based on the 2009 book by William Knoedelseder, the hourlong ensemble drama is set in the ‘70s LA standup scene. Here’s more info on the pilot, which was shot in LA in the fall:

Melissa Leo, Ari Graynor, Clark Duke, Michael Angarano, RJ Cyler, Erik Griffin and Stephen Guarino star in I’m Dying Up Here, which follows up and coming comedians in LA in the 1970s, who mentored by Goldie (Leo), a brassy comedy club owner who rules over her business with an iron fist and nurtures her comedians with tough love. Graynor, Santino, Cyler, Griffin and Guarino play as the main stand-ups at the club. Angarano and Duke play ballsy young comedians from Boston who move to L.A. with the hopes of making it big. Guest stars in the pilot include Alfred Molina, Sebastian Stan, Robert Forster, Jon Daly, Al Madrigal, Dylan Baker, Brianne Howey, Ginger Gonzaga and Cathy Moriarty.

I’m Dying Up Here premieres on Showtime Sunday, June 4th at 10:00pm. Check out the first trailer below:
