Back in 2015, Judd Apatow and Michael Showalter signed on to produce and direct, respectively, Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon’s movie The Big Sick, and after a successful run at the Sundance Film Festival, the film finally has a premiere date. According to Variety, Amazon and Lionsgate have teamed up to release the film, which is based on the couple’s real-life experiences and stars Nanjiani as “a Pakistani comic whose relationship with a graduate student (Zoe Kazan) is threatened by cultural differences and a health crisis.” Holly Hunter, Ray Romano, Anupam Kher, Bo Burnham, and Aidy Bryant also appear in the film, which hits theaters with a limited release on June 23rd followed by a wide release on Friday, July 14th.
