Bad Boys’ bad boys Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are in need of a new driver for their action-comedy buddy-cop franchise. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bad Boys 3, a.k.a. Bad Boys for Life, director and scriptwriter Joe Carnahan has left the project. While the official reason for the departure was scheduling conflicts, the rumor around Hollywood is he left due to “creative differences.†Given the attachment of the OG stars and the success of the first two movies, the producers are reportedly already shopping for a new director. Both the original Bad Boys in 1995 and the 2003 sequel were directed by Michael Bay, who is probably too busy directing alien robot-cars in the next Transformers to jump back into a franchise about Earth-bound Miami detectives.
