After a bidding war that rose north of $65 million, according to the Financial Times, Barack and Michelle Obama have both signed book deals with Crown, a Penguin Random House imprint. The publisher also oversaw Obama’s 1995 memoir, Dreams of My Father, as well as his other two tomes. HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, and Macmillan were also reportedly interested, because who wouldn’t be? The Obamas plan to separately pen individual books that will subsequently be sold together, probably so they can spill all that delicious dirt about each other they’ve been holding in for eight years.
