While we’re still waiting to hear about the return of Nathan Fielder’s fantastic Comedy Central series Nathan for You, one running bit from season 3 is getting some more time in the spotlight this weekend. Uproxx noticed an update today on the official website for Fielder’s Holocaust awareness-inspired jacket company Summit Ice where he revealed that not only will he be donating another $150,000 to the Vancouver Holocaust Education Center (after donating over $300,000 back in 2015) this Sunday, but he’ll also be opening up a Summit Ice pop-up store in Vancouver for the day:
As part of his trip, Mr. Fielder will be opening Summit Ice’s first retail pop-up store at 138 East Broadway, in Vancouver’s historic outdoor apparel district. Greater Vancouver residents are encouraged to come down and trade in any Taiga jacket they have in exchange for a free Summit Ice soft-shell jacket and “Deny Nothing†pin. Donations will also be accepted in exchange for other Summit Ice clothing while supplies last. (Please note: any Taiga jackets collected will be disposed of in a manner deemed appropriate by Mr. Fielder.) The pop-up store will only be open for this one-day event, which will take place on Sunday March 26 from 11am-5pm. Summit Ice Apparel was founded in 2015, when Mr. Fielder became aware that his favorite jacket company, the Vancouver-based Taiga, had published a tribute to Holocaust denier Doug Collins in one of their winter catalogues. Mr. Fielder immediately recognized a need in the marketplace for an outdoor apparel company that openly promoted the true story of the Holocaust. To accomplish its mission, Summit Ice proudly selected the VHEC to be the sole recipient of its profits, benefiting Holocaust education in Western Canada. This unselfish donation from Summit Ice will provide the VHEC resources to further its mission to promote human rights, social justice and genocide awareness through education and remembrance of the Holocaust. To learn more about the VHEC, please visit vhec.org.
Fielder also added this gentle suggestion at the end for the mayor of Vancouver:
If the mayor wants to give Mr. Fielder the Key to the City, please contact: [email protected]
Given Summit Ice’s eerie prescience in the Trump era, it’s good to know that Fielder has plans of bringing it back in some form. And if you’re not in Vancouver this Sunday, you can still head over to the Summit Ice website and purchase your jacket from the comfort of home.
