Consider this the interview that keeps on giving and giving and giving: We donât want to toot our own horn, but Quincy Jonesâs epic chat with Vulture earlier this month is filled with just about every type of gossip under the sun, between Marlon Brando and Richard Pryorâs alleged sexual history, to who killed JFK, to Ivanka Trumpâs boyfriends. Jones has already taken some heat from people to dispel a few of his wild remarks, and now heâs also receiving the wrath of Michael Jacksonâs father, Joe Jackson, who didnât appreciate Jones calling his son a song thief.
âI hate to get into this publicly, but Michael stole a lot of stuff. He stole a lot of songs,â Jones previously told us. â[Donna Summerâs] âState of Independenceâ and âBillie Jean.â The notes donât lie, man. He was as Machiavellian as they come. Greedy, man. Greedy.â Jackson, as he recently explained to âPage Sixâ in response, believes Jones would say this as heâs âquite jealous of Michael because heâs never worked with someone with all of that talent.â
If the songs are indeed similar, Jackson also reckons, then itâs because of Jonesâs own fault as a producer: âHe says my son stole it, but he was the producer on both [âBillie Jeanâ and âState of Independenceâ], so if anybody is wrong it would be Quincy.â Listen below for yourselves.
