While Richard Pryor’s widow was glad to confirm Quincy Jones’s story in Vulture’s interview that her husband once slept with Marlon Brando, others accused in the piece are not so happy to have to admit Jones was right. In response to Jones’s comment that T-Pain bombed his contribution to the producer’s last album, a tribute record, T-Pain has emerged with his tail between his legs. In a series of tweets, T-Pain says he was reluctant to cover Michael Jackson’s “P.Y.T.†because he would “fuck it up,†but that his managers coaxed him into it anyway. That whole experience, he says, led to him firing his management. “I still hated it when I came out of the booth. Then the song came out and it was even worse than it sounded in the studio,†he says. T-Pain now wonders why the legend didn’t just scrap the song or be more candid in person about what he wanted, instead of publicly dragging him for it eight years later: “It just seems like Quincy Jones is pissed off at the whole world.†Or just very chatty!
