Mitch Hurwitz just dropped two big Arrested Development scoops. On Twitter, Hurwitz confirmed that season 5 of the show will debut on Netflix “real soon,†and a re-edited version of season 4, which Hurwitz revealed he was working on way back in 2014, will be available on Netflix starting this Friday. The title of the re-edited season 4: Arrested Development Season 4 Remix: Fateful Consequences. Here’s the full announcement from Hurwitz:
Last year, Jason Bateman revealed that the season 5 plot will revolve around the death of Liza Minnelli’s character, and that all of the cast will be together in the new batch of episodes. In addition, Bateman said that the show definitely won’t avoid addressing its similarities to the Trump era, telling The Daily Beast, “None of that is lost on [creator] Mitch Hurwitz. He’s aware of all of that stuff. And he and his writing staff have been in a cave for the last two or three months crafting these episodes, and they’re going to lean into a lot of that [Trump] stuff for sure. They can’t wait.â€
