The comedy community has lost a unique and beloved voice today. Comedian and actor Brody Stevens has died at the age of 48 at his home in Los Angeles. According to TMZ, his death was reportedly confirmed by law enforcement as a suicide. A comedy festival staple, Stevens appeared in films like The Hangover and Due Date and series including Kroll Show and Chelsea Lately, where he also worked as the show’s warm-up comic. In 2013, he debuted his Comedy Central digital series Brody Stevens: Enjoy It! Executive produced by Zach Galifianakis, the show in part explored Stevens’s struggle with mental illness. His death immediately drew an outpouring of love from fellow members of the L.A. comedy scene online.
“Brody was an inspiring voice who was a friend to many in the comedy community,†his reps said in a statement Friday evening. “He pushed creative boundaries and his passion for his work and his love of baseball were contagious. He was beloved by many and will be greatly missed. We respectfully ask for privacy at this time.â€
