Natalie Portman and Brad Pitt couldn’t have just carpooled to space, huh? In February, Ariana Grande invented the galaxy with her Thank U, Next song “NASA;†now Natalie Portman is going intergalactic. In Lucy in the Sky — from Fargo and Legion creator Noah Hawley — Portman plays an astronaut named Lucy Cola, who’s having a hard time readjusting to life on earth after her trip to space. She’s married to Dan Stevens (and Dan Stevens’ mustache) and sleeping with Jon Hamm, and being psychoanalyzed by Nick Offerman — a trio of men who don’t seem to understand her desperate, pathological need to return to space on the next mission. The movie is loosely based on the real life love triangle of Lisa Nowak, an astronaut who drove from Houston to Orlando in 2007 with a plan to kidnap her space sidepiece’s new beau. Lucy in the Sky will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be in theaters October 4, 2019.
