Gabriel GarcÃa Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude was released in 1967 and became a part of the literary canon. Now, it will go through the modern rite of passage and become a series on Netflix. The company announced today that it has purchased the rights to the book — which tells the story of the Buendia family, who live in a fictional town called Macondo — with production set to take place almost entirely in Colombia. The author’s sons, Rodrigo GarcÃa and Gonzalo GarcÃa Barcha, will executive produce.
