Looks like someone went and popped the big question! The question being, “Wait, PBS is still making new Arthur episodes?†You bet it is, and in the show’s season-22 premiere, “Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone,†Mr. Nigel Ratburn, elementary-school teacher to Arthur and the gang, weds Patrick, a very nice man who owns a chocolate shop. While the kids at first fear Mr. Ratburn is engaged to mysterious bossy stranger Patty, it turns out she’s just his sister, voiced by Jane Lynch, who has some high standards for her brother’s nuptials.
Arthur has been on the air in the U.S. since 1996, so as you can imagine, Twitter was atwitter with fans reacting to their childhood favorite now featuring the wedding of an LGBTQ character. (You can watch said wedding in full here. The cake is reportedly to die for.) For those wishing to send gifts, the grooms will be accepting cheese and whatever aardvarks eat. Just kidding, these guys wear suits and drive cars and stuff. They probably have a registry.
