The Croisette just got its Tarantino fix: Cannes artistic director Thierry Fremaux announced Thursday morning that Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Per The Hollywood Reporter, you can expect the stars of the 1969-set feature — Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio (no hoodie, no cargo shorts), and Margot Robbie — to show up for the film industry’s glitziest event of the spring. When Fremaux initially announced the festival’s lineup, he wasn’t sure if Tarantino would have the film finished in time; turns out a little pressure works!
In Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, DiCaprio stars as actor Rick Dalton; Pitt is his stunt double Cliff Booth. The two cruise around town in 1969, around the time of Sharon Tate’s (Margot Robbie) murder. Also added to the 2019 Cannes Film Festical lineup Thursday morning, according to THR: the second part of Abdellatif Kechiche’s Mektoub, My Love series, Gaspar Noe’s Lux Aeterna, Gael Garcia Bernal’s Chicuarotes, Patricio Guzman’s La Cordillera de los Suenos, Leila Conners’s Ice on Fire, and Dan Krauss’s Ward 5B. Joining the Un Certain Regard lineup are Lorenzo Mattotti’s La Famosa Invasione Degli Orsi in Sicilia and Larissa Sadilova’s Odnazhdy v Trubchevske.
