Lots of comedy firsts are happening this summer. Ilana Glazer is taping her first stand-up special, Dave Chappelle is making his Broadway debut, and now, former Netflix host Joel McHale is following Glazer’s lead and getting into the stand-up game. McHale’s first stand-up special, Joel McHale: Live From Pyongyang, was taped at the San Jose Improv Comedy Club back in January, and it is slated to be released through Comedy Dynamics on Tuesday, August 6. The trailer doesn’t give away too much, but it does confirm that one very important topic that will be covered in the special: the fact that Joel McHale is definitely not Daniel Tosh, even though a lot of people seem to think otherwise.
In addition to the stand-up special, McHale most recently signed on to host ABC’s Card Sharks revival and will play Starman in DC Universe’s upcoming Stargirl series, which was announced late last year.
