If you thought no Disney live-action remake could generate as much buzz as Beyoncé’s The Lion King, you were so, so wrong. Casting for The Little Mermaid has been grabbing headlines all month long, and now Deadline is reporting that Oscar winner Javier Bardem is in talks to play King Triton. You know, the *very* overprotective dad with rage issues who has a trident that shoots lightening and angrily destroys all of Ariel’s stuff? Yeah. So, basically, this version of The Little Mermaid might end up being *extremely* terrifying. But, it also might have Melissa McCarthy and Awkwafina, so it’ll probably be a funny, campy adventure under the sea too … right? Right?!?
