Gemma Chan and Barry Keoghan Might Join The Eternals

Disney has never cast the same actor to play different roles within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but exceptions can be made for the right people. Variety reports that Gemma Chan, who appeared earlier this year as the Kree soldier Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel, is in talks to join The Eternals, along with Barry Keoghan. It’s unknown whether or not this would be a reprisal of her previous character — who was dispatched in space by Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers — but if she signs on and it turns out to be a new role, Chan would be the first to play two different parts in the MCU. Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, and Kumail Nanjiani are all already locked in for the film, which will follow a group of powerful beings (the Eternals) that defend the Earth from some other powerful beings (the Deviants). There was not nearly enough Gemma Chan in Captain Marvel, so it’s good that Disney knows they owe us one.
