The trailer for Honey Boy, Shia LaBeouf’s account of his own adolescence, is finally here. In it are three Shias LaBeouf: Noah Jupe playing a character named Otis Lort, on the set of a children’s show not dissimilar from Disney Channel’s Even Stevens. Lucas Hedges plays Otis in his 20s, bouncing between the set of a big-budget action movie and late-night run-ins with the cops. Shia himself plays Otis’s father, James, a former rodeo clown and convicted sex offender, tasked with taking his son to and from set. Directed by Alma Har’el, the movie premiered at Sundance. “Though most viewers will have never met Jeffrey LaBeouf, it’s easy to imagine that he is more or less re-created in James,†Vulture critic Emily Yoshida wrote in January, “down to the thinning hairs on top of his head here, a conjuring of a demon, an attempt to get inside that demon and understand it.†See it in theaters November 8.
