The original Face/Off is a John Woo movie starring Nicolas Cage as a super-criminal who surgically swaps faces and then lives with John Travolta’s worn-down law-enforcement officer, forcing the pair into a spiral of vengeance and gunfire in one of the silliest-sounding action movies ever to become a huge hit. Well! Paramount is tired of letting this property sit on the shelf, so it’s decided to make a reboot.
Oren Uziel will write the script, and his most recent project is the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which means anything is liable to happen here. According to Deadline’s report, Paramount will be bringing on a new cast, but it didn’t specify if that means new characters or just new actors to play the old ones. It’s hard to imagine a Face/Off without Castor Troy and almost impossible to conjure one without Nic Cage as Castor Troy going full Cage crazy in the film’s craziest moments.
