Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani is in the news this week for being the focus of an ongoing criminal investigation for his ties to the Trump-Ukraine scandal, which involves the former New York City mayor’s connections with “associates†Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, who were arrested earlier this week for campaign-finance charges. This all sounds like the perfect setup for another political SNL cold open, but last night’s episode opened with a sketch about CNN’s LGBTQ town hall instead, so the Giuliani sketch landed in the “Cut for Time†bin.
In the commercial parody for “Giuliani & Associates,†Kate McKinnon brings back her Giuliani (a.k.a. “Pizza Rat Seniorâ€) to star in an ad alongside Parnas (Beck Bennett) and Fruman (David Harbour) marketed for a very specific potential client: “Were you the victim of a crime you committed? Are you facing serious legal trouble? And do you want to make it worse?†Whether it’s fraud, bribery, conspiracy, money laundering, or even treason, Giuliani promises that they’ve “done it all, which means we know how to get you out of it!†And, of course, by “out of it,†they mean you’re definitely going to jail. Definitely.
