Thanks to the coronavirus, comedians are now trapped at home like the rest of us, so we decided that while we’re all self-quarantining, we’d do something a little different than our usual “Follow Friday†column. Instead of interviewing up-and-coming comedians we love on Twitter, we’re going live on Instagram every week to check in on some of our favorite people in comedy to get a firsthand look into how they’re handling the pandemic. So welcome to our new version of the column, now titled “Follow (From a Safe Distance) Friday.â€
This week, I chatted with Quinta Brunson (A Black Lady Sketch Show, Big Mouth, Lazor Wulf, all the GIFs you use on Twitter), who woke up extra L.A.-early to hop on to Instagram to chat about how she’s coping in isolation. She treated us to a tour of her patio, gave us some truly inspiring advice about reaching out to your loved ones to stay sane in this craziness, and celebrated the fact that her hands still remember how to properly season ramen after all this time. We also came to an agreement about the hot Netflix show Tiger King: “Carole did it, but I’m not mad at her.†She definitely did, and I’m not mad either!
You can find Brunson on Instagram at @quintab and Twitter at @quintabrunson.
