Thanks to the coronavirus, comedians are now trapped at home like the rest of us, so we decided that while we’re all self-quarantining, we’d do something a little different from our usual “Follow Friday†column. Instead of interviewing up-and-coming comedians we love on Twitter, we’re going live on Instagram every week to check in on some of our favorite people in comedy and get a firsthand look into how they’re handling the pandemic. So welcome to our new version of the column, now titled “Follow (From a Safe Distance) Friday.â€
This week, I lay glamorously prone with Tamara Yajia (Funny or Die, ClickHole, Argentine child star) and her various beverages for a digital conversation about how she’s keeping it together in quarantine. She detailed her tenure as an 11-year-old child performer in an Ace of Base cover band in Argentina, shared her thoughts on the post-corona future of digital comedy, and told us her favorite QAnon conspiracy theories (a group she is, allegedly, not affiliated with). She also poured us some tea about an early-aughts reality-TV star who popped up in the almost soft-core-porn vampire B-movie she had a role in: “We shot a scene in my parents’ room … Tila Tequila had a full sex scene in my parents’ bathtub.â€
