Update, Tuesday, March 22 at 8:00 p.m.: This year’s Oscars performances have been announced and almost all of the nominated artists will take the stage this Sunday. Performances include King Richard’s “Be Alive†with Beyoncé, Encanto’s “Dos Oruguitas†with Sebastián Yatra, No Time To Die’s “No Time To Die†with Billie Eilish and FINNEAS, and Four Good Days’s “Somehow You Do†with Reba McEntire. This will be Eilish and FINNEAS’s second Oscars performance; they sang The Beatles’ “Yesterday†for the “In Memoriam†tribute in 2020. Reba McEntire is not nominated for their year’s awards as she’s covering Diane Warren’s “Somehow You Do.â€

According to a press release, Van Morrison was invited to perform “Down to Joy†from Belfast; however, he could not attend due to “his tour schedule.†There will be no alternate performance of “Down to Joy,†and a live performance will not be included in Sunday’s awards show. However, this is Hollywood, and there will still be more singing! Despite not being nominated, Encanto’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno†will debut its first live performance at the show. Five of the Madrigals from the movie — Adassa, Stephanie Beatriz, Mauro Castillo, Carolina Gaitan, and Diane Guerrero — will join Becky G and Luis Fonsi for the performance. The Oscars will air live on ABC and online Sunday, March 27 at 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT.

Original story follows.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences just announced some of the musicians that will most certainly be overshadowed by the fictional characters in Encanto at this year’s Academy Awards broadcast. The 94th Oscars telecast on March 27 will feature an “all-star band†made up of music director Adam Blackstone, percussionist and singer Sheila E., pianist Robert Glasper, and Kardashian-to-be Travis Barker. Additionally, DJ D-Nice will play both the telecast and the Governors Ball Oscars after-party. This announcement does not specify whether any of these musicians will be covering any of the five Original Song nominees, or whether their original artists (Billie Eilish and Beyoncé among them) will perform. However, following the news that the ceremony will feature a live performance of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,†Barker et al.’s best-case scenario is being the opening act for some extremely popular animated characters … because they’ll be a tough act to follow.
