The assault trial looming over A$AP Rocky’s career has finally come to a close, as the rapper was found not guilty on Tuesday night. After a three-week trial, a California jury reportedly deliberated for three hours before announcing his acquittal. A$AP Rocky had been charged with two counts of felony assault for allegedly firing a semi-automatic handgun at a former friend, A$AP Relli, in 2021. He faced a sentence of up to 24 years.

As the verdict was read in the Los Angeles courtroom, Rocky dove into the gallery to hug his mother, his sister, and Rihanna, the mother of his children. He also embraced his lawyer, Joe Tacopina, before telling jurors, “Thank y’all for saving my life.”

Rihanna, who attended several of Rocky’s court appearances throughout the trial, including one with the couple’s two children, RZA and Riot, accompanied him outside the courthouse. Arm in arm, the couple smiled and celebrated as they made their way through a swarm of paparazzi. “The Glory belongs to God and God alone,” Rihanna wrote on her Instagram Story on Tuesday night. “Thankful, humbled by his mercy!”
