Thanks to the coronavirus, comedians are now trapped at home like the rest of us, so we decided that while we’re all self-quarantining, we’d do something a little different from our usual “Follow Friday†column. Instead of interviewing up-and-coming comedians we love on Twitter, we’re going live on Instagram every week to check in on some of our favorite people in comedy and get a firsthand look into how they’re handling the pandemic. So welcome to our new version of the column, now titled “Follow (From a Safe Distance) Friday.â€
This week, Niccole Thurman (HBO, Comedy Central, in many too relatable Twitter videos) graced me with her virtual presence for a convo about how she’s doing in the Pandemicâ„¢. We bonded over how our mutual anxiety disorders are keeping us afloat, she shared her thoughts on Instagram content thieves, and she even gave us her signature video chat sign-off face. She also got pensive about the future of TV and film production in Hollywood, during the pandemic and beyond: “They can’t do this forever because eventually we’ll run out of TV. But then again, I never thought that we would run out of the mail either. So it’s like, who knows what’s happening anymore!â€
