The best place to catch Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott was at a seedy, alt-comedy show in Brooklyn in 2017, before either of them became famous. The second-best place was our “Comedians You Should Know” list in 2018 and 2021, respectively. The third-best place is hosting the Oscar-nominations morning in 2025. The Academy said on January 21 that Yang and Sennott will reveal this year’s Oscar nominations, and luckily, Emerald Fennell doesn’t have a movie out this year, so Yang has nothing to worry about. The nominations will be announced on January 23, 8:30 a.m. ET, 5:30 a.m. PT, after initially being delayed due to the California wildfires.
If you’re in the mood to catch the nominations that early in the morn, then you have a multitude of places to catch them, including Oscar.com, Oscars.org, ABC, Hulu, Disney+, or any of the Academy’s TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook pages — if you didn’t delete TikTok off your phone during the blip, that is. Maybe Yang and Sennott will even bring out one of their fellow alt-comedians to announce a category or two. Josh Sharp and Aaron Jackson would be really good at saying the names of Documentary Shorts.
